I do not have much knowledge about the program 3d max, but I noticed that there are several versions, 2008, 2009, 2010 and now 2011 if I remember correctly. The 3D Max Basic course teaches how to handle all existing versions of 3D Studio Max? Is there a version translated into Portuguese or in English only is it?
We use in our courses on modeling and animation to 3D Studio Max 2009 version, so you need that version or of any more current as the 2010 or 2011 in order to open the files correctly. But nothing prevents you from using a previous version just to study, especially the basic concepts that do not change much from one version to another. However, we recommend you have version 2009, and Autodesk does not currently offer any of this software translation into Portuguese.
